Bike Pottstown/BikeSchuylkill Wins Award from Transportation Association

The Schuylkill River Heritage Area's free bike-share program, Bike Pottstown/Bike Schuylkill, won a Star Award from Communities in Motion, a foundation associated with the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association.
Star Awards are for exemplary leadership and inspiration in implementing healthy projects in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The program was one of 25 recognized at Communities in Motion's annual meeting Tuesday at DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia-Valley Forge, King of Prussia.
The award was one of only nine given in the category of Parks, Recreation and Open Space Projects.
"We are pleased to have this very successful program recognized by our partners," said Silas Chamberlin, heritage area executive director. "Bike Schuylkill and Bike Pottstown not only encourage healthy lifestyles for people who ride on the Schuylkill River Trail, it also affords an alternative means of transportation,
The program provides free bikes bike along the River trail in Phoenixville, Pottstown and Hamburg.
